Cupcakes and Kalashnicovs-speech-

Dear girls,
Today I will be talking to you about many tragic cases of young girls like yourselves-forced into doing something they didn't want to do.
The percentage of gang rapes has increased rapidly over recent years. Girls like you had to suffer because they had no choice, forced to tell nobody and had a fear of being killed if they didn't litsen to them.
One of many cases was of two girls who were caught late at night, taken to the park (after coming out of a club), forced to do things that can not be spoken of because 'they don't see it as rape-just see it as pleasure for them'...

Commentary:
The beginning of the speech starts with 'dear girls', this is used to address the audience (who it is for). The use of pronoun 'you' is used to direct the girls about how serious this topic is and they need to be careful. One of the cases from the article has been used, which makes it very important for the girls to listen to.

  1. www some attempt to address an audience but you have used a letter address NOT one for a speech. Language is mostly formal yet there is an effort to make in directly voiced to the young female audience. SOme good explanation of choices made.

EBI manner - speech NOT letter, not using quotation from text but drawing on lexis, attitudes, statistics etc.
